Foul or Not? Part 2

In an earlier post, I examined whether certain grips issued in the spirited match between Mutiny and Orsi should have been called fouls. Here, I apply my judgment to photos of staged matches produced by Maidens of Mayhem. While the matches are not competitive, they do serve as a valuable study guide for those fortunate enough to referee a ladies' wrestling or catfighting match.
In the above photo, Alektra has a firm grip of Max Mikita's hair with one hand and Max's left nipple with her other hand. Obviously, in a regular wrestling match, this combination would qualify for two fouls, and probably a disqualification. But in an Apartment Wrestling match, the ladies do assume certain risks, hairpulling and tit twisting among them. So the ruling is No Foul, and a special commendation to Alektra for such a nice combination that causes Max no small amount of distress.

Max gets her own back, landing a nice closed fist shot to Alektra's belly. The first question is whether the closed fist is a foul in and of itself. I acknowledge that there is room for disagreement here, but I would allow it so long as it was an isolated event. However, even if punching is allowed, Max shouldn't be allowed to hold Alektra's hair to prevent her from turning away. As I can't tell whehter Max has a hairpull, I have to say that the ruling is Inconclusive.

Another close call, as Max is certainly controlling Alextra's head with the face claw as she pummels Alextra's body. I don't think the face claw is as controlling as a hairpull, so I would rule No Foul, but warn Max that a Foul call would be in the offing should she repeat this combination.

No question as to the ruling here. Max chops the back of Akira Lane's neck as she grabs Akira's hair. A most definite Foul, and the ref would be in his rights to disqualify Max for the shot. This is truly a dangerous blow as Akira's neck is held in position by way of the hairpull.

A Lovely Entrance Outfit

I've recieved word from one of my scouts in Jakarta that the ladies have gotten a bit more daring and creative with respect to their entrance outfits for topless apartment and club matches. Here, a buxom lass shows off a spectacular one piece that she wears for her introduction, and then removes to wrestle in her lime green g-string underneath.

Announcing the Result, Part 1

A particular subset of the winner/loser at the end of the match that has taken my interest is the shot of a referee or wrestler raising the hand of the winner while the loser has to stand there with her hand down. In this first shot, we have Bianca -- in her first appearance for FoxyCombat.com -- raising the unbelievably gorgeous Marilies' hand to signal her win over Nicole. What is perhaps most amazing about this shot is that Bianca -- who hasn't yet wrestled -- has the biggest smile. If anything, her smile may be a bit too forced as she is unfamiliar with the dictates of this shot. Marilies has the benefit of the remnants of her top still on her, which accentuates her full and natural breasts. In addition, her thong is a bit askew, suggesting the struggle as the two bodies pressed against each other in the tussle. Marilies looks forward confidently, with a bit of a self-confident smile. Nicole looks at Marilies, as if to acknowledge that she has been beaten by the better woman that afternoon.

Bianca can barely restraining herself after her first win, and her joy is obvious. With her left hand raised high, she also pumps her right fist in the air. Merilies is only too happy to raise the rookie's hand, but what makes this photo is Nicole's reaction. Sucking in her lip, she looks at Bianca with the obvious expression of "how the heck did she beat me?" A wonderful photograph, and as always, please click on the photos to see them at full size.

Foul or Not??

Orsi defends herself from Mutiny's attempted breast smother in this oil catfight with a double breast push. I would say "no foul," although Orsi has managed to capture Mutiny's left nipple between her fingers. Perhaps the ref might give a warning if Orsi brought her fingers together to trap the nipple.

Orsi's simple push against Mutiny's right breast is obviously giving Mutiny some trouble. And to Orsi's credit, she's maintaining her right-handed push against Mutiny's nipple without a direct nipple tweet. So, the ruling from the judges? No foul.

Payback's a bitch, the big-breasted Orsi quickly discovers once Mutiny is on top. Mutiny is nothing if not a solid wrestler, and note how she has secured Orsi with her legs. Particularly impressive is how Mutiny uses her left leg to immobilize Orsi's left arm. So Mutiny is in a commanding position, and isn't using a basic breast push. Instead, she's got a good grip on Orsi's tit right around her large pink nipple. If Orsi hadn't started out with kind of attack, it might be an easy foul to call on Mutiny. But since what goes around comes around (and it's always nice to watch a woman with big tits get worked over), the ruling is that the ref should give Mutiny a warning and a 10 count before she has to stop.

Whoa!!! I guess I called that one wrong. Now Mutiny is working Orsi over as the ref is really letting them go at it. For the record, this would be a clear foul because Orsi is unable to defend her breasts and Mutiny is in a dominating position. At minimum, Mutiny should be instructed to remove her grips. However, the ref has the discretion not to take away any points because Mutiny is working the breasts, as opposed to the nipples.

But once Orsi escapes, she has her own comuppance planned, and goes for a wedgie. Definitely no foul for just gripping the bikini bottom.

Orsi is a skilled wrestler/catfighter as well, and note how she has trapped Mutiny's right leg with a scissor and uses both hands to yank Mutiny's bikini bottoms up her ass crack. At this piont, the ref has the discretion to issue a warning to Orsi, but given how the match has been called so far, there is no chance that Orsi will get called for a foul.

Now that Orsi's really punishing Mutiny's ass, we should see the ref issue a warning and start a "10 count."

Mutiny calls out for the ref to call a foul once Orsi pulls Mutiny's right ass cheek in to get more pressure on her ass crack. A definite foul, as such a combination move is expressly prohibited.

The ref calls the foul, but doesn't order Orsi to release the hold. Definitely a very lenient ref. So Orsi drives fabric right up into Mutiny.

Once Orsi has yanked the fabric as far as she can pull it, she continues to punish Mutiny's ass while trapping her head and leg. The ref is obligated to begin a "10 count" as the rule book requires when a catfighter is subjected to high wedgie and can't defend herself.

Orsi's a real pro and gives it hard to Mutiny for the full count. Note Orsi's singular focus on maintaining a tight grip and pull on Mutiny's bikini bottoms.

Please feel free to offer your opinions as to whether the rules are appropriate and whether the ref discharged her duties.

I'm sure arranging all of this is harder than it looks, but just for a moment let me dream about how wonderful it would be to have these ladies tussle for my benefit in a tropical paradise. A Spectacular Trailer

This trailer, for "The Lightweights Ordeal" by the sadly defunct Video Sports Limited, stands the test of time. The women are attractive, shapely and wrestle skillfully in minuscule g-strings. The trailer includes not only solid snippets of action, but also some behind the scenes footage of the ladies in the gym and smiling for the camera, as well as great before and after shots in the ring. An added bonus -- and a big one in my book -- is that the room was kept hot so the wrestlers develop a nice sheen of sweat as the matches continue.

From a technical perspective, I can't say enough good things about the way the matches were filmed. I'm a big fan of having ladies wrestle in a ring, even if they're not doing pro-style, because it allows the camera to shoot at "mat level" and also to look up at the ladies. To me, this is critical because simply looking down at the women on a mat is somewhat tiresome. Another smart element is that the background is all black, which allows the viewer to concentrate on the action and not wonder where all the empty chairs came from (as compared to some Japanese pro-style videos). Plus, having a female narrator -- GENIUS!!!

Although this blog refers to photos, I thought I would step into the 21st century and also post some favorite videos from DailyMotion (which doesn't seem to have the same hang-up with nudity as YouTube). The merits of this clip don't require analysis: beautiful, lightly oiled women wrestling nude on a rug with full scale B-movie effects. After all, when was the last time you saw someone go to the trouble to simulate flashes of lightning outside of the curtained windows?

Differing Views on German Mat Club

In a recent thoughtful post on Female Fight Theater, the author shared his view on German Mat Club (GMC) videos:

"But the first picture I saw of a match in the raw has been from a fight from Beka, the producer from Germany, and that some time before the naked video. And I liked the pictures. So, I was anxious when I had the opportunity to watch for the first time a full video from Beka. I have to confess that I got disappointed. The fighters were nude, they were attractive if not stunning, they wanted victory, the fight was not scripted, but... it was boring! Maybe they lacked some viciousness, maybe it was the... boots! That caused me a strange impression: why those fully unclothed girls had to use shoes? To avoid a cold in the harsh German winter?

Along the time, I had the opportunity of watching other Beka videos, like the ones below, shot in a gym, with no boots at all! But unfortunately the boredom was the same. [video clip omitted]"

I have no quarrel with the author's view and his posting inspired me to share a few of my thoughts as to the now defunct GMC. First off, I think it's interesting that we have both focused on the GMC having its nude lady wrestlers wear wrestling shoes. My previously posted thoughts on the subject show that there's a real diversity of views within our community:

"I discovered the German Mat Club early in my fascination with women's wrestling, and perhaps that's why I'm particularly partial to ladies wrestling nude or topless while wearing calf-high wrestling boots. The shoes not only protect the ladies' feet and toes, but their attire lends a seriousness of purpose to their efforts."

I will venture a guess that, for many of us, GMC was one of our earliest exposure to competitive and erotic female wrestling. The women were certainly not Southern California beautiful. But it was that they looked like the "girl next door" (so long as you lived in Bavaria, but that's just a quibble) while wrestling naked with an obvious desire to win is what captivated me. Here's a short clip of one of my favorites, Alexandra, going up against a heavier and more experienced Sandra. I didn't find the action boring (and still don't), and in particular I found Alexandra's intensity particularly enthralling.

A Recommendation

The author is extremely knowledgeable and shares exerpts from his substantial video collection to illustrate interesting thoughts on our favorite shared topic. The blog is updated daily and includes a large library of clips that are rotated on a regular basis. It's well worth your time to check it out.

Rosemary Lorenz versus Annie Owens

Ok, the use of the term "versus" is a little much, given that the action in this Curtis Dupont film is far from real. But Rosemary versus Annie was featured in a magazine I bought a long time ago and was probably the first titfight that I saw. As my loyal readers may have deduced, I'm a big Rosemary fan and it's great to see her giving it to Annie's boobs in this set of photos. What is particularly delectable is Rose's technique as she focuses her attack on Annie's nipples, forcing Annie's boobs to stretch under the strain.
Rosemary shows Ms. Owens no mercy, continuing to attack Ms. Owens' nipples with a straightforward -- but obviously powerful -- lift and pull grip.

Manila Fights -- Rhoan v. Kixx

It's great to see my favorite Filipino wrestler, Rhoan, on the mats once again. Although this photo is not as flattering as her previous one -- which made me think that she was a star in the making -- it's good to see that she's still willing to wrestle topless.
Rhoan's opponent, Kixx, looks to be in fighting form and, bless her soul, is willing to wrestle topless.
A lovely pre-match photo, with Kixx challenging the viewer and Rhoan letting us see her brilliant smile. Instead of getting the traditional posed "stare down," we seem to have interrupted a quiet moment between the two lady combatants. And once the action begins, Rhoan gets her less experienced opponent in a body scissors and puts on the pressure.

After the Match

The following video clip is a stunning example of how seriously the loser takes the loss and the graciousness of the winner. As an added benefit, the topless boxing match was held in a public venue and the victress plays to the vocal crowd. I know that this match was promoted by the forerunner of LGIS and any further information would be appreciated.

Uniform Prototype for World Cup Catfighting Championship, Part 3

The series of testing possible outfits for the World Cup Catfighting Championship continues. Previous reports as to this important endeavor can be found here and here.
I'm not a big fan of the "sparkly" briefs that Emma is wearing as Maia crushes her with a standard body scissors. Perhaps Emma's outfit would be more fitting for a match held at night, where the glitterly letters would shine under the lights.
As long-time readers of this blog know, Maia's principal strategy is to wrap her legs around her opponent and squeeze the bejeezus out of her opponent. As was the case in her match against Gaia, it seems to work against Emma as well.
In this second match, Artemis appears to be wearing the same outfit she wore previously in her match against Maia, although here she is wearing the top as well.
Sila, who is taking the brunt of the action, wears a neutral colored two-piece so that the test can solely focus on the Brazilian color combination against the blue mat on a bright day. The tests are not only to judge the outfits (here, we can see the bikini top won't work where the ladies will be required to cover their breasts), but to also determine technical issues, such as the best mat color and how to light and film the action.

Ingrid, Ingrid, Ingrid!!!

Meet Ingrid, one of the best catfighters on the European scene for the past decade. I'm completely smitted with her, and have written before about this wonderful photo from Ingrid's early days as she strikes a classic victory pose.
How could anyone resist such a champion, posing over her defeated foe with that lovely little half smile? Her foot planted firmly on her opponent's belly, Ingrid proudly raises her arm after emerging as the victrix of this hard fought nude woman versus woman battle. That she's not a natural blonde and her full breasts have a natural doop -- and this match took place when she was 19 years old -- only adds to her allure.

Ingrid took a few years off from the catfighting and wrestling scene, returning in her late twenties. She had obviously put on a few pounds but still had that competitive fire (not to mention the very obvious dye job). Her younger colleagues watch a true catfighter show how to humiliate an opponent with a schoolgirl pin. Ingrid's breasts certainly aren't as firm as they once were, but her opponent's anguished expression certainly show that she hadn't forgotten how to use her ass against her opponent's breasts.
Ingrid subsequently moved on to work for Foxycombat.com, and serves as their photographer as well.
And then, all of sudden, a totally new Ingrid appears. Firmer, fitter and (hard not to notice) very firm and uplifted breasts.
And we can see that Ingrid has had some help from the surgeon. If you click on the picture, you can really see the scars on the undersides of her breasts that then lead up to her nipples. I'm willing to bet she's also had some work done on her tummy and perhaps a bit of lipo on her neck and chin. If you look at her nose, it looks like the surgeon made some "improvements" there as well.
A big match was against Marlies, a wrestler/catfighter in Ingrid's mold. Younger, to be sure, with a nice, full figure and not a natural blonde. Was Ingrid ready to pass on the torch, or could she hold her own against a larger and younger opponent?
Ingrid is one the best at hairpulling, and Marlies finds out that being on top isn't necessarily an advantage against such an experienced catfighter.
Armed with years' of catfighting experience, Ingrid presses her bare foot against Marlies' face.

Grapevining her opponent's legs, Ingrid tries to wear her out.
And when Marlies proves too resilient, Ingrid resorts to the one of the best catfighting moves around -- the double breast squeeze.
But too can play at that game, and Marlies presses down hard on Ingrid's left breast. It looks like Ingrid is trying for a slap against Marlies' big right nipple.
Ingrid looks to be in trouble as that simple breast press is really getting to her.

But our darling is never out of it, and shows Marlies how to issue a catfightin bow and arrow -- pulling up on the hair instead of the arm.
Showing no mercy, Ingrid tortures her younger opponent with a double nipple pull.
But Marlies is made of out sterner stuff and somehow avoids getting submitted.
Finally Marlies wears Ingrid out, and gets the submission when Ingrid is just too tired to continue. No doubt that Ingrid still had the will to go on, but her fitness just can't be at the level of a woman eight years younger than her.
A tender moment as the torch is passed.

Camel Toed!!!

As I've previously pointed out, one of the unexpected delights of a one-piece suit is the always delightful Camel Toe Effect. Here, we see the barefooted Rene showing off the lovely Isabella's mons through her electric green suit.
A slightly closer look for those of us who want to get "up close and personal" with the action. By my count, this shot caters to the following interests: (i) Fully booted wrestlers, (ii) Barefooted wrestlers, and (iii) Camel Toed wrestlers. What a trifecta!!!
What is perhaps most amazing about this photo is that Isabella appears to be wearing a regular suit, not one of those specialty Japanese ones designed with the CT in mind. Below, Isabella looks despondent after getting displayed by Rene.

An Idea for A New League

Almost all of the photos and videos of women tussling for our enjoyment feature ladies below the age of 30 going at it. But what happens when they turn 31? Does anyone think that we wouldn't want to watch them test themselves on the mat. So with that in mind, my latest brainstorm is for a catfighting league for ladies over the age of 35. Here are two of my favorites who could compete in the South-East Asian Division, based on my limited knowledge of the catfighting scene there.

Jun is Chinese-Thai, stands 5'4" and 135 pounds (I would guess), and is 37 years old. This Bangkok-based catfighter's aggressive, straight ahead style has earned her many fans. Jun likes to try to overwhelm her opponents early with a series of slaps to the face. If that doesn't work, Jun will use her strength to try to muscle her opponent down to the carpet and then yank on her opponent's hair until the submission is earned. Jun's biggest weakness is that her breasts (and nipples) and somewhat large for an Asian woman, and her opponents try to land roundhouse slaps to her nipples. In a couple of fights, Jun has gotten tagged with uppercut slaps right on her large nipples that have stopped her dead in her tracks. As a result, Jun has developed a disturbing habit of holding her hands low to protect her chest, leaving her face unprotected.
You can see that Jun not only has an amazing ass, but that she is very fit. One of Jun's biggest rivals in Bangkok is Apsara, pictured below. At 36 years old, this Chinese-Thai lady is simply a natural catfighter. She's not nearly as strong as Jun, but she stands 5'6" and with her long arms has a couple of inches of reach advantage on her rival.
Apsara loves to taunt Jun before a match, telling her how Jun's breasts are sagging and that she's going to slap Jun's nipples. Apsara has one key skill -- fast, powerful slaps. She's not afraid to take some punishment, but her preferred course is to stand back and nail her opponent as she comes forward. Apsara isn't that great once her opponent gets her to the ground, and Jun has beaten her recently with a body scissors around Apsara's soft belly.

Corporate Sponsorship -- Japanese Style

The most obvious difference between athletic companies' sponsorship of lady wrestlers in Japan, as opposed to in Europe, is that there are no teams for companies to sponsor. Instead, each lady is free to contract with as many sponsors as she can attract. For example, Yuki Kato, above in the Adidas grey one piece, also has contracts with Asics for her knee pads, Mizuno for her elbow pads and Puma for her wrestling shoes.
Yuki's opponent, Kazuha Ogura, has two sponsors -- Speedo for her suit and Mizuno for her elbow pad. Given that each sponsor supports several women, it's not uncommon to see ladies wearing clothing from the same manufacturer going up against one another.

Yuki is known for her flowing brunette locks, exuberant approach to wrestling and her custom high-cut suit.
Unlike in American or European pro-style matches, low blows are an accepted part of the game. Below, Kazuha finishes Yuki off with a quick downward leg strike between Yuki's legs.
Aki Hirakawa, pictured below, has taken an entirely different approach towards sponsorship. Instead of being covered with a cacophony of different labels like a Nascar driver, she has an exclusive arrangement with Speedo. Aki's only labelled apparel is her one-piece suit, and her logo-free elbow pad, knee pads and wrestling boots compliment her signature red and beige suit.

Could Shoe Companies Sponsor a Catfighting League?

These photos are reportedly from a test session to assess the merits of German shoe companies sponsoring catfighters. It goes without saying that such sponsorship is simply outside of the realm of possibility for an American company, such as Nike. For purposes of market testing so as to focus solely on marketability of shoe sponsorship, the ladies tussled in the nude.
Here, Jessica wearing a pair of Adidias trainers, puts Sarah into a very tidy small package. Given that the ladies are wearing regular trainers that would be bought by women and not wrestling shoes, it is possible that the test was designed to see whether catfighting would spur demand for athletic footwear by women.
Jessica yanks on Sarah's hair, leaving no doubt but that this is a catfight . . .
. . . and then adds a body scissors to try and force a submission from her Puma-clad opponent.
Sarah escapes and tries to mount a comeback, but Jessica smartly steals a march on her by quickly getting off her knees.
Jessica was the better woman this day, finally exhausting Sarah with a traditional boob-pressing School Girl Pin. It goes without saying that it is this writer's fervent hope that the test will be deemed a success by the corporate honchos. If so, we can look forward to a new breed of catfighters shilling for European athletic apparel brands.

Big Girls Can Wrestle Too, Part 2

I've written before about my current favorite plus-sized catfighter for Bout Time Studios, London. Here's she's matched up against one of my all-time favorites, Casper.
London steals a march on her smaller opponent, immediately going to work on Casper's right nipple. A smart move, as Casper has shown before that she's not very good at protecting her tits. London's outfit nicely accents her wide hips and it's good to see that she's not embarassed at all to strut her stuff. Although I'd commented previously that it just didn't seem right for a catfighter to wear a pair of briefs that had a belt, Casper proves me wrong.
Of course, this being a catfight, both ladies engage in all manner of unconventional attacks. From mouth grips . . .

. . . to double nipple pulls.

Casper, having a bit of experience under her belt, knows enough to return to work on London's left nipple.
But as a loyal reader has noted, you just can't teach big. And London puts an end to the fight with a knee lift to Casper's belly.
London certainly seems to be getting the hang of torturing her opponent for the final shot. With her right hand on her hip and her breasts proudly displayed, London lets everyone know that she not to be taken lightly (no pun intended). In their rematch, London simply dominated Casper by catching her in a body scissors.
Casper, who has certainly taken her fair share of beatings, seems to want no further part of getting squeezed by London's huge and powerful thighs.

Uniform Prototype for World Cup Catfighting Championship, Part 2

Testing continues as to the suitability of various uniform prototypes for the World Cup Catfighting Championship (topless division). An earlier report can be found at http://cpcommentary.blogspot.com/2007/10/uniform-prototype-for-world-cup.html
Here, we see Artemis sporting the "Color/Name" style, in which the catfighter's briefs sport the country's color, and have the name written across the back. This test was held in the dark sand in order to see whether the country identification would be visible in inclement weather or adverse conditions.
Maia sports the "Belted" style for Team USA, which has the country's name (or abbreviation) on the back of the brief's belt. This is the same the style as Sila wore for her native Turkey in the prior posting. As Maia is from Ukraine and Artemis from Germany, we shouldn't think that either of these two ladies are going to emigrate. Instead, they are simply models for the test (albeit participating in a very real catfight).
As BBB4 (a thankfully frequent and thoughtful contributor) is an astute student of the breast smother, this photo provides assurance that he can still identify the ladies by country while one attempts to obtain a submission using that favored catfighting hold.
The Color/Name style also features the country's flag on the left front of the briefs. I prefer this style over the Belted because it is more form fitting and, let's face it, the idea of a lady wearing a belt in a catfight just doesn't seem right.

Big Girls Can Wrestle Too

Although most of the purveyors of catfighting and wrestling material gravitate (for obvious commercial reasons) towards putting forth young ladies who conform to traditional standards of phsyical beauty, we should always remember that any woman who is willing to face off against other lady is always worthy of our admiration. In this case, it's great to see that London (on the right) is proud to show off her fine form before she takes on the more svelte Mercedes. (With these names, do you think these gals could be erotic dancers? I had initially thought that they are aid workers taking a break from their work in Sudan, but I'm having second thoughts.)

Mercedes, no dope, does the smart thing and goes for London's belly. After all, she's got to figure that the plus sized catfighter might not have the strongest stomach muscles.
But London isn't so easily taken, and yanks Mercedes' head down with a solid hairpull. London is plenty strong, easily holding herself up off of the carpet with one hand.
London looks like she is in trouble here, as Mercedes has "inside position" on her breast attack -- meaning that Mercedes' arms are to the inside of London's. If Mercedes had any kind of technique at all, she would just angle her elbows out in order to make it really hard for London to get a grip on her nipples.
But London is just too much for the lighter catfighter, who gets kudos for pulling aside London's panties to give us a nice unbroken view of her hips.
London is justly proud of her victory, and has no reason to be at all demure about her fine form.

Why Competitive Catfighting is a Sport -- Exhibit A

One of the burning questions that has engrossed philosophers through the ages is whether competive catfighting is true sport. Perhaps the question is on a low simmer or just defrosting next to the cheeze blintzes on the counter, but in any event, it seems one worthy of addressing in this blog.

To begin with, we need to establish the critical criteria that makes an activity a sport. I would submit that a sport requires:

Athletic Ability
Strength
Endurance
Strategy
Competition - hence, "scripted" wrestling or catfighting cannot be a sport
Defense - (i.e., another team or individual can prevent you from accomplishing your goal)

It would seem obvious that a competitive catfight satisfies each of these criteria. I submit that the photos from one fall in the fantastic topless beach catfight between Gaia and Maia makes any further attempt to answer the question in the negative a waste of time. Gaia, on the left, is a 19-year-old from Germany weighing in at 141 pounds and standing 5'7". Her opponent from Ukraine, Maia, is also 19, but is significantly undersized for this tussle at 5'4" at 117 pounds. There is no question but that Maia will have to develop, and execute, a good strategy to overcome Gaia's substantial advantage in strength and weight.
Gaia, an experienced catfighter, knows that her best bet is to try and overwhelm Maia with the force of her slaps from the standing position. If she can get her Ukranian opponent to turn away, it should be an easy matter to just barge into Maia, force Maia to the ground and use her greater weight against her opponent.
Maia stands tall, withstanding Gaia's initial attempt to overwhelm her with a flurry of slaps. Since Gaia has a noticeable reach advatange, Maia uses her hands to block Gaia's hands as opposed to going for a face slap of her own. Although Maia is undersized, you can see that she has plenty of strength as evidenced by her well-formed figure.
Maia closes the gap, negating Gaia's reach advantage, and deftly blocks Gaia's roundhouse right slap with her left forearm. The bigger catfighter turns her head, a natural reflex in anticipation of getting slapped hard across the face. But Gaia has made the mistake of assuming that Maia had the same strategy -- standing up and trading slaps until one catfighter imposed her will on the other. Instead, Maia uses her speed and agility to get behind the bigger catfighter. By the way that the German teen is standing stock still, it is apparent that she has been taken totally by surprise. And since this is a catfight, Maia deftly grabs onto Gaia's hair.
In a stunning display of strength and athletic ability, Maia leaps off of the sand to wrap her legs around Gaia's torso. The fact that the ladies are wrestling on sand, as opposed to a hard mat, only adds to the degree of difficulty of executing this move. Note how Maia immediately locks her ankles, making it almost impossible for Gaia to force her legs apart.
Maia brings the German teen catfighter down to the sand, and hits her with a combination body scissors and headlock. Maia must have known that Gaia is susceptible to the body scissors (for a prior example of Gaia submitting to this hold, see http://cpcommentary.blogspot.com/2007/10/anatomy-of-body-scissors.html).
Gaia is not without resources, however, and manages to stand up -- but Maia is determined to retain her head lock and body scissors no matter what. She must know that she is forcing her larger opponent to expend alot of energy, thus sapping her endurance. Gaia pounds Maia back down to the sand, but the Ukranian teen just won't be denied. Again, note the way Maia keeps her ankles locked. By the way, do you think that her ankle wrap provided a bit more friction and hold than if she weren't wearing it?
One of the hallmarks of a good fighter, man or woman, is that they remain calm and collected during the match. Here, you can see that Maia is calmly dealing with the situation even as Gaia has broken the headlock. Maia just holds onto the back of the Gaia's neck with her right hand and continues to punish the German catfighter's sides with the body scissors.
Gaia finally manages to break out of the body scissors, but can't get free as Maia still has managed to re-establish her headlock. Maia just uses the force to Gaia's turning to finally get Gaia on her back. Smartly, the Ukranian teen puts all of her weight on the German's upper body, staying away from her opponent's undeniably strong legs. And since it's a catfight, a breast smother is allowed. Having gotten squeezed for much of the round, Gaia doesn't have much in the tank and finally submits.
In conclusion, I hope that this photo essay and the commentary has finally established, once and for all, that Competitive Catfighting is a sport. Discuss amongst yourselves, or better yet, post a comment with your thoughts.

Vanessa versus Christine, Part 1

Rivalries between lady wrestlers take all shapes and forms. Some, such as that between Stephanie and Natasha, are performed at the highest level -- between ladies who are members of a sponored team and have no doubt as to their future in the sport. Others develop between ladies, such as Vanessa in the pink one piece and Christine, who don't have that luxury. Vanessa, pictured above before her first match against Christine, started out as an independent wrestler, not affiliated with any team sponored by a shoe company. Hence, she wears generic wrestling boots.
Christine had been around the league for a while, and although she had been a member of various teams from time to time, never seemed to catch on. The ladies' anticipation and nervousness is evident in the above photo. For these independent wrestlers, every match was important. It would either move them closer towards, or further away, from their goal -- getting picked up by a sponsored team. Vanessa wisely selected a one piece that was particularly high cut over hips; all the better to show off her fine form. But she obviously wasn't all that confident about what she was willing to show. If you look closely, you can see the white band of her g-string underneath.

Although a raw rookie, Vanessa had some skills, and went to work on Christine's shoulders. The smaller wrestler simply wasn't able to bring her greater experience to bear.
Vanessa -- showing a nice tan line, by the way -- works over each of Christine's legs in turn. By the way that Christine is grimacing and reaching back for her right hamstring, we can tell that she is suffering from the attentions of her younger opponent.
Although the same rules are supposed to apply to matches between ladies on sposored teams and independent matches, it's generally accepted that they are applied much more loosely in the independent matches. And Vanessa smartly takes advantage with an obivous hair pull.
Vanessa uses her substantial -- and in my opinion, delightful -- backside to put an exclamation point on her victory.
Christine is obviously despondent, as it doesn't look good for her to get dominated by a mere rookie.

Of course, a rematch was arranged for the next session. Look at how the ladies' expressions have changed from their first match. Vanessa looks much more poised and confident, while it seems like Christine has a surprise in store for her opponent.

Vanessa is obviously suffering in the grips of Christine's textbook camel clutch. Note how Christine's earlier attention to her opponent's shoulders set this hold up to have maximum impact.
And for good measure, a bit of payback with a hairpull.
As it's Vanessa's turn to lie despondent on the floor, Christine poses as if to say "And you though this young thing could take me again?!!"

Vanessa versus Christine, Part 2

Twice a year, Reebok (which doesn't have a team in the league) sponsors a tournament for the independent wrestlers. The Reebok Invitational is a great moment for a lady to excel, as representatives from each of the teams are present and are looking to pick up a few ladies to round out their rosters. Given their past history, it came as no surprise that Venessa and Christine were matched up against each other for two matches over the course of the weekend-long tourney.
Vanessa definitely came dressed to impress in a lilac suit that showed off her best feature. But she simply wasn't prepared for the level of aggressiveness that Christine -- a three-time veteran of the Reebok Tournament -- brought to the match.
Christine cleverly sits on Venessa's left arm to keep it in a painful hammerlock, while yanking on the roots of her long brunette locks.
Christine gets away with one here, even when measured by the lax referring standards used in the Reebok Tournament. Although she later claimed that she was just holding Vanessa's head still, you can see that Christine is placing her right thumb up against her opponent's eye.

In their second match, Christine just picked up where she left off. It seemed that Vanessa just didn't have the will to compete and Christine took full advantage.
With the opportunity to get picked up by a team so close, Christine put Vanessa in a series of humiliating positions.
This final "forced bridge" probably drove the final nail in the coffin in terms of Vanessa getting selected to join a team. There was no way that shoe company would want one of their girls getting displayed like this by a smaller women while wearing their product.
Christine looks confident, knowing that she would certainly get selected while Vanessa looks up in a daze.
Fast forward two months, and Christine is a member of Team Adidas while Vanessa is still slogging it out as an independent wrestler. Although the top ladies on each sponsored team don't wrestle independents, second tier ladies such as Christine regularly compete against non-sponsored ladies in order to keep in match shape. Note how much more aggresive Vanessa looks right from the get-go. Perhaps to keep the memory of her last terrible loss to Christine fresh in her mind, she wears the same wrestling suit.

Vanessa is determined to inflict maximum punishement with this bow and arrow. Note how much higher cut Christine's suit is as compared to when she was wrestling as an independent.
Vanessa returns to the fine form she displayed in some of her earlier matches, calmly moving from hold to hold to work on her opponent's weaknesses. To her credit, Christine bears up to the pain and seems to be waiting for an opportunity to turn the tables.
But Vanessa never gives her the chance, finally getting the Adidas Team wrestler in this modified camel clutch.
Christine strikes a pose, showing off her big, beautiful legs. There seems to be no doubt, at least in her mind, that she's ready for the big time.
Christine looks terrible, and the pain from having Christine work her over can only be compounded by the knowledge that team management never likes it when one of their ladies loses to an independent.

Vanessa versus Christine, Part 3

As it turned out, Vanessa had good reason to be upbeat after her victory over Christine, just as Christine must have understood that Team Adidas would be looking to replace her. Vanessa soon got picked up by Team Nike and Christine got fortunate when a spot opened up on Team Puma due to one of the wrestlers separating her shoulder. Although neither lady was on the first tier on her team, they were matched up against one another when Team Nike took on Team Puma.
Christine is definitely one to hold a grudge, as she must have felt that Vanessa was responsible for her getting kicked off of Team Adidas. Once again, her technical skills were too much for Vanessa.
The biggest criticism of Vanessa is that if things aren't going her way in the match, she loses focus. While I'm a huge Vanessa fan, I find it hard to argue with this critique. And when you're in the big leagues facing a wrestler as crafty as Christine, the last thing a wrestler can do is to zone out. Because when that happens, Christine will try and humiliate her opponent.

Christine obviously couldn't resist reliving some "good old times" with Vanessa from their days on the independent circuit -- hence the hair pull combined with the crotch spread. As a result of this match, and some other developments within Team Nike that had nothing to do with Vanessa, her contract was assigned to Team Adidas.
When Team Adidas met Team Puma in the finals, neither Vanessa nor Christine were on the roster for those matches. However, they did wrestle against each other in a match that wouldn't count in the standings, but for each team's pride. Note how Christine has been treated to a bit of a make-over, with her new hairstyle and outfit. For her part, Vanessa is sporting a new style of wrestling sneaker that combines the best of a wrestling shoe and cross-trainer.
Unfortunately for Vanessa, it's the same old story as she just doesn't seem to have answer for Christine's attacks.
Given how many times these ladies have battled, I don't think its a surprise that this photo captures a sense of intimacy. But even saying that, it is striking how calm Christine appears as she is making Vanessa suffer.

Note how Christine digs her fingers into Vanessa's left deltoid as she works over the shoulder of the Team Adidas wrestler. To put pressure on Vanessa's left elbow, Christine juts her left knee out to form an unnatural pivot point for Vanessa's arm.
Vanessa grabs onto her left shoulder, looking up at Christine and perhaps seeking some relief. For me, this photo pretty much sums up their (admittedly one-sided) rivalry.
Of course, Christine isn't going to give any and takes her rightful place seated upon Vanessa's chest for the victory photo. As things worked out, Team Puma let Christine go during the off season and actually signed up Vanessa!! The rumor around the league was that Team Puma was looking to increase their ability to "put asses in the seats" by putting forward a more attractive team.

So it should come as no surprise that when Vanessa needed to fill her quota of matches (still relegated to the second tier and therefore needing to take on independents), she found that a sizable "appearance fee" was being offered for her take on Christine. Go back and compare this photo to the first photo of these ladies in Part 1 of this series. I think you'll find it very instructive, as each as matured and changed in subtle ways. Vanessa certainly looks more fetching and confident, while Christine seems to be more confortable as an independent wrestler.
Vanessa was in trouble right from the beginning (I said it was a rivalry, not that they were evenly matched), and grabs onto her right quad.
Never one to miss an opportunity, Christine keeps up the pressure on Vanessa's sore muscle. It is obvious that she is in some serious pain.
Although she probably could have forced a submission with that hold, Christine turns her attention to Vanessa's left leg.
Even the most cursory glance at this photo would reveal that this hold was too much for Vanessa to take. Screaming in pain, Vanessa strained ligaments in both shoulders, pulled her left quadraceps and twisted her knee pretty seriously. Although Vanessa did continue to wrestle, she never regained the promise that (I thought) she once showed. To be fair to Vanessa, she did have alot more success against other ladies. (If there is any interest, I could do some more on her career). But for whatever reason, Christine just had Vanessa's number.

Stephanie of Team Puma versus Natasha of Team Adidas

Although the ladies wrestle as members of a team, rivalries between ladies on different teams were bound to develop. And perhaps the most heated rivalry is between Stephanie of Team Puma and Natasha of Team Adidas. Each wrestler is easy on eyes, while Stephanie has a more typical wrestler's physique and Natasha a more willowy figure. Given that each inspires a great deal of fan loyalty, it was probably inevitable that the best looking ladies on each team would have intense and sprited matches.
In one of their earlier matches, Stephanie punished Natasha with a bow and arrow hold, punctuated with a foot to the lower back. Natasha's fans certainly didn't like to see their beauty get treated like this, but must have secretly been thanking Stephanie for allowing them to see Natasha's fine form in this particularly high-cut yellow one piece.
Since the league is sponsored by shoe companies, particular leniency is given when it comes to applying holds that involve a wrestler placing her feet on her opponent.
Although the story has never been confirmed, it is commonly believed that the ladies are encouraged (through the provision of special bonuses) to try for submissions by holds that showcase their, or their opponent's, wrestling shoes. In this case, Natasha's pained expression might not only be due to the pressure on her legs from Stephanie's leg lock, but also from the realization that her rival was going to earn a bonus off of her.

Although Stephanie is a bit stronger than Natasha, the Team Adidas wrestler more than compensates with her aggression and apparently natural desire to punish her opponent. There can be no question but that Natasha knows exactly what she is doing as she steps on Stephanie's left inner thigh and pulls her right leg in the other direction.
Natasha not only has the ability to set up painful leg holds, but also the patience and determination to see them through. Note the wear on the bottom of Stephanie's wrestling shoe.
Natasha working over Stephanie's left quad. Recall that Natasha had stepped on Stephanie's left leg earlier in the match. This kind of attention to detail and strategy have led many of Natasha's fans to argue that her fine looks sometimes overshadow her considerable wrestling skill.
For obvious reasons, this final humiliation move reportedly earned Natasha the highest "special bonus" ever awarded by Team Adidas. It is hard to imagine that Adidas could have come up with a better image to showcase their product's superiority over that of Puma's.

Team Nike versus Team Adidas

I've previously written about my hope that one day women wrestlers could get corporate sponsors who would pay to have their logos placed on their minimal outfits. http://cpcommentary.blogspot.com/2007/06/look-who-weve-got-our-hanes-on-now.html The most obvious candidates for such corporate sponsorship would be those businesses that already incorporate their logos on products that would naturally be used lady wrestlers. Namely, wrestling shoes and wrestling outfits. And given the extraordinary sums that are paid to professional athletes and college teams (principally, U.S. football and basketball) for the exclusive right to provide footwear, the principal athletic footwear companies are well versed in this form of sponsorship.
Of course, there are numerous obstacles to ever realizing this hope, almost all of which arise from society's general views on women wrestling. So any sponsorship would need to start with women wearing one piece outfits, and the matches would need to conform to rules that would best prevent the competition from being labelled as catfighting, or as being considered degrading to women.
Although wrestling is, by definition, an individual sport, competition takes place between teams as well (such as at the high school and college level). Therefore, I would suggest that the league have four principal shoe sponsors -- Adidas, Asics, Nike and Puma -- and each would outfit a different team. Using these photos, one could imagine what a match between Team Nike and Team Adidas would look like.

To Boot or Not to Boot

Since I'm exploring the thread of wrestling women's outfits, it should come as no surprise that I would consider the wrestling boot (without, it is to be hoped, falling into the "foot fetish" chasm from which no escape appears possible). Of course, a wrestler can go barefoot, but that just gives her opponent another avenue of attack. While the lady in black didn't make that mistake, she did chose to wear some form of wrestling slipper that her opponent was able to remove, with the obvious intention of working over her toes. (You can see the pink slippers off to the left, just below the curtain). To follow up on my prior post on the beauty of the one piece suit (and the thoughtful comment), I note that the lady in black fills out her conservative suit about as alluringly as possible.
I discovered the German Mat Club early in my fascination with women's wrestling, and perhaps that's why I'm particularly partial to ladies wrestling nude or topless while wearing calf-high wrestling boots. The shoes not only protect the ladies' feet and toes, but their attire lends a seriousness of purpose to their efforts. By the way, I can only seem to find grainy video transfers of German Mat Club (GMC) matches. If anyone knows where there are better quality photos, please let me know.
Here, we see a lithe Japanese lady using her wrestling boot to assist in her offense. But since I'm focusing just on the style of footwear, I note that it's not really to my taste as it doesn't look like the tradition wrestling boot that I'm used to. It just looks too clunky and almost like she's about to go skiing or something.
But my real complaint is with UltimateSurrender's choice of footwear. While I have to give them kudos for explaining that they changed from barefoot to sneakers because the ladies were suffering too many foot and toe injuries -- and for recognizing that nothing is as important as the wrestlers' health and well being -- the selection of an aerobics sneaker just doesn't doesn't do it for me. Since the ladies need to wear different colored bands (and, in a huge mistake, straps of fabric around their upper arms, but I may deal with that in another post), why not have them wear different colored wrestling boots?

The Disadvantage of Wearing a One Piece Suit

Inspired by a thoughtful and loyal reader (hint: comments are always appreciated), I've been thinking about how a wrestler's particular outfit might change the outcome of a match. In these photos, we see that the shoulder straps can be pulled down to trap a wrestler's arms. With her arms so constrained, she is unable to defend against her opponent's attack. So much the better that, in each case, the opponent issues a nipple or breast attack.

In Praise of the One Piece Wrestling Suit

Although I suscribe to the view that, all other things being equal, the highest form of erotic wrestling takes place when the ladies are tussling in the nude, one shouldn't dismiss the opportunity to watch women wrestling in one piece suits. For example, the silver one piece in the above photo produces the wonderful "camel toe" effect.
Since a "camel toe" sighting is unfortunately rare, the most obvious benefit of the one piece is that it allows for the fabric to be high cut around the legs and hips. Although the Japanese seem to have perfected this sort of outfit, it's nice to see that the folks at wrestlinglounge.com aren't too far behind (pun fully intended).

Imagine that your girlfriend is willing to oil wrestle in her bikini in a bar packed with a frenzied crowd.
She might not be in the greatest shape, but she gives it her all.
Of course, the crowd loves it when they get a little nipple action and she doesn't seem to mind the attention.
She might not have won, but looks great all covered in oil.
And then you hold her in your arms, telling her what a great job she did, not minding for a moment as the oil rubs off on you. While this is a fantasy for me (and I would guess most of my readers), it's just another day for this lucky guy.

Uniform Prototype for World Cup Catfighting Championship

Sila of FightingStyle.com shows off the latest uniform prototype for the much anticipated (and certainly never to occur) World Cup Catfighting Championship. But at least we can dream of ladies like Sila sporting their national colors as they compete for their nation's pride.
This two-piece uniform is in the catfighter's national colors, with the representation of the nation's flag on the right side of the bikini top. The anglicized name of the country is written on the back of a white belt incorporated ino the bikini bottom.
As the photos demonstrate, it would be easy to keep track of which country the catfighter represented.

Anatomy of a Body Scissors

At first, Gaia tries to fend off Megan's attempt at a body scissors with her left arm. The photographer does a great job of getting down to mat level with the ladies, giving us a great view of the wrestlers' expressions.
Megan manages to secure the body scissors, and Gaia desperately tries to keep her from putting on the pressure.
The pressure was obviously too much for Gaia, and these photos perfectly capture her pained expression.

I'll be the first to admit that getting naked ladies to wrestle in the "pro" style sounds like a great idea. This isn't like combining peanut butter and chocolate, after all. Naked women and wrestling definitely go together. The only problem, of course, is that the level of violence in the wrestling is directly proportional to the required skill of the participants. In other words, if you're just going to have two very attractive ladies tussle on the mat, they don't need to be all that skilled because they are just trying for pins and submissions. But when the action is supposed to replicate pro action -- well, then you've got a different story. Anyone who's read Mick Folely's autobiography or watched Hulk Hogan's reality TV show knows that professional wrestling takes a ridiculous amount of skill, an incredibly high pain threshold, and when you're done, you have one or more permanent disabilities. So, unless you can find beautiful women who are willing to put in that kind of effort (i.e., a nearly impossible mission), you wind up with the ladies sort of play acting pro wrestling. Which doesn't really work, since pro wrestling itself is (let's face it), a sort of play itself.
That being said, it's hard to argue with the shot of a busty lady being thrown chest first against the ropes.
And ladies in distress was also a good angle that the Naked Women Wrestling League took.
By the way, can anyone explain to me how Carmen Electra thought it would be a good idea to be associated with this product?

Behind the Scenes at Double Trouble

The world of staged matches, like any form of scripted entertainment, requires us to engage in a willing suspension of disbelief. In other words, we know that Russel Crowe isn't a gladiator or a captain in the British Navy, but we suspend that knowledge in order to immerse ourselves in the world presented to us on the screen. While the mainline forms of entertainment have plenty of outlets for releasing "behind the scenes" information (which in some small way gave birth to the brilliant HBO series "Entourage"), those producing staged female wrestling matches seem to have an uneasy relationship between the backstage and frontstage, rarely letting us a peek at the former.

With all of that as prelude, I find this photo fascinating on a number of different levels. Absent the heading indicating that the ladies are signing a contract with Double Trouble before filming a wrestling match in 1991, the viewer could have imagined that the ladies were filling out an application to community college, or checking their little sister's Girl Scout cookie order before sending it down to the regional HQ. The scene is entirely pedestrian, the dining room in a middle class home, with a fancy vase up front and some china neatly displayed in a cabinet to the right. The Marlboro Lights and the Coke can almost serve the role that a bowl of fruit might in a 17th century portrait -- to place the persons within the frame in some kind of context. The context being one of commerce and fantasy, for however much we all willingly suspend our disbelief, in the end we must know that the ladies are doing it for the money and, given that this is America, contracts must be signed before the camera begins to roll.

Perfect Ring Portrait

I often go a little over the edge in my analysis of lady wrestling and catfighting photos, but these two shots show that getting a good pre-match shot of a lady in the ring is really simple. As long as she's attractive, has a nice smile, and her bikini is a bit too small, you're going to have a superior photo.

Rhoan v. Kiomi

Here are some photos of Rhoan against Kiomi, an attractive and more experienced wrestler. In their first match (first three pictures), points could be scored by pins or submissions. In the second bout, only by pins.
Although Rhoan is on the short end of things in the above photo, its nice to see that she has captured Kiomi in a body scissors while maintaining (as they would say in the MMA world) a full guard. And below, she gets her own back with a body scissors. But note how calm Kiomi's expression is, the mark of a good and calculating wrestler.
Kiomi doesn't hold back, and tries to pin our lovely Rhoan by with a hands to the face press.
In the pins-only match, its nice to see Rhoan go for a score as Kiomi attempts to bridge out. Particularly enticing is the way that Rhoan's shoulder blades pop out at us with force of her exertions. Of course, the two dimples above her bikini line are also a delight to behold.
And once again Rhoan shows us that she's not just topless for show, willingly pressing her bosom against Kiomi as she goes for the pin.

Rhoan -- A Star in the Making?

Some ladies just have that something special that makes you take notice when they step onto the mat or into the ring. I think that Rhoan (topless) of ManilaFights.com might just have that something. It's not just that she has a fabulous body, perfectly shown off by her choice of bikini bottoms. There is something in the way that she faces off against MJ below that makes her look so innocent and open, such that she commands our attention.
Of course, there are alot of pretty faces attached to well toned bodies out there who hit the mats and just sort of lay there like a fish out of water. Not so with Rhoan as she charges into MJ. Based on MJ's expression, it looks like Rhoan wasn't going half-speed with her charge.
Any lady wrestler who is going to entrance us over time needs to be able to take the good and the bad. Here we see Rhoan taking the bad as MJ nails her with what I hope is a blatantly illegal choke hold.

Emu Kojima v. Sayaka Tomita

Both Ms. Emu Kojima, in the violet bikini, and Ms. Sayaka Tomita have a good sense of purpose in this match. At the outset, Ms. Tomita shows that she's got a plan in mind -- to go after Ms. Kojima's crotch at every opportunity. For her part, Ms. Kojima isn't too pleased as her opponent executes on this strategy with a quick reach around grip.Ms. Kojima tries for a grip of her own, but Ms. Tomita has her all tied up and is in perfect position to resume her attack (albeit from behind).
Finally, Ms. Kojima manages to lay on her own grip, and is paying careful attention to its application as Sayaka begins to suffer.
With both ladies stripped of their tops, Ms. Kojima gets her own back with a clever reach around crotch grip of her own. Note how Ms. Kojima's left leg keeps Ms. Tomita from closing her legs together to protect her crotch.

Casper the Modest

I know that it sounds ridiculous to even suggest that a woman who lets her breasts get attacked in a staged catfight could be called modest. But on close examination, you can see that she's actually wearing a g-string under her light violet panties. When you click on the photo, you can see the white band of her g-string in the open space on the side of her panties.
In this photo, it's beyond obvious that Casper's wearing a black g-string underneath her sheer panties. I've always found it very interesting that different girls draw the line at what they are willing to do to further our favorite pastime (or at least to make a buck). While many ladies would no doubt appear naked in the ring before allowing themselves to be subjected to all manner of breast attacks, Casper obviously draws the line elsewhere. While I would no doubt like to see Casper galavanting about in a g-string, her adherence to her own set of principles only further elevates her in my eyes.

I've always thought (or to put it more bluntly, fantasized) about how great it would be if lady wrestlers and catfighters could somehow convince businesses to sponsor them. So just as a race car driver is covered in logos, and a golfer or tennis player may wear patches that display a company's name, a wrestler or catfighter's limited clothing could incorporate a sponsor's logo. Here, the ladies from BoutTimeStudios wearing the tank tops appear to be sponored by Hanes. (You'll have to click on the picture to see it clearly; "Hanes" is on the lower left of their tops).

Don't Bring a Knife to a Gun Fight

If this were a wrestling match, Casper would certainly have the advantage over Fayth as Casper has trapped her opponent from up top with a head scissors. But Casper has thoughtlessly (or perhaps, thoughfully for our benefit) failed to secure Fayth's arms. So Fayth does what any good catfighter would do (albeit in a well executed apartment catfight -- a nice way of saying that it's not competitive), and reaches back and gets a good hold of Casper's nipples. The reigning Queen of Taking Tit Attacks does her utmost to let us know that Fayth has scored big time, particularly with Fayth's left hand really giving Casper's nipple a good yank.

African-American Tag Team

I just noticed that, purely as a matter of coincidence, my last two posts (before this series of three posts) featured African-American ladies getting the short end of things. So to make up for it, here's a nice match featuring two African-American tag teams from Womens World Video. Beginning on the left, we have Tonya at 5'4", 115 pounds and Lee at 5'8", 124 pounds against Isis at 5'4", 129 pounds and Coni at 5'7", 119 pounds. In this group shot, I particularly like the way that Isis is glancing over her shoulder at her opponents while everyone else looks at the camera.
At least in terms of chest size, Isis and Coni have the advantage. Although I'm not sure how that going to help them against the particularly tough looking Lee. I don't know if it was by design, but you'll note that the ladies on each team have similar skin tone, with Tonya and Lee being darker than their opponents.

Tag Team, Part 2

Tonya looks on smiling as Lee gets the better of Coni. Where you have presumably evenly matched tag teams, with one big girl (Lee and Coni) and a smaller girl (Tonya and Isis), a critical factor is who's big girl is better. Because unless the opposing team's small girl is really a class above the rest, the team with the better big girl has a decided advantage. An additional bonus of this photo is we are treated to a fine view of Coni's magnificent ass. Isis looks none too pleased as Lee continues to dominate Coni. Isis certainly seems to know how important it is for her partner to at least hold her own.
But as it turns out, Isis is no great shakes on the mat, either. Tonya demonstrates some real skill against her heavier opponent. Judging by Isis' facial expression, it seems that a submission is inevitable.
Isis doesn't really seem to have any answer to Tonya's speed and agression.
Correction. She does have an answer -- hair pulling -- although it's probably not permitted in a straight wrestling match.

Tag Team, Part 3

Hold the presses!!! It turns out Isis does have some skill, managing to get Tonya in a basic body scissors. Perhaps she will figure out how to squeeze her legs together to get the submission.
Finally, Coni and Isis have figured out how this tag team stuff works -- you want to try and get your bigger girl against their smaller girl. As they say in the Guiness commercials, Genius!!
It's understandable that Tonya has some trouble matching up against Coni, as she is giving up three inches in height. But to be fair to Coni, she only outweighs Tonya by four pounds, so its not like she had a completely unfair advantage.
I like to believe that this is a one in a million shot that captures the moment just after Coni has face sat Tonya for a submission. Sure, she could have just been sitting on her chest or something, but give me the benefit of the doubt.
There really isn't any doubt but that Lee is the class wrestler here, as she finishes Isis off with a modified body scissors. I don't know who won this match, but my money is on Lee and Tonya. If you happen to know, or just have any thoughts on the match, please leave a comment.

Ultimate Surrender Action

Although Ultimate Surrender's matches have particular rules that may not be to everyone's taste, these photos of Ariel putting the beat down on Stacy Cash perfectly capture Stacy's torment.
Stacy is no push over, however, and struggles valiantly.
In the end, Ariel is just too much for Stacy, and as you can see below, Ariel finishes her off in fine style.

A Great Position

As these photos from virasaptfights.com only hint at the possibilities, they suggest how wonderful a straight, low angle shot from behind would be of one lady getting her opponent in a headlock and bending her over. While we miss out on the ladies' expressions (usually the most important part of a catfighting photo), such a position would no doubt be useful in a staged match. Particularly where where the "competitors" aren't that skilled at selling the hold. To be fair to Vira, her matches seem to be competitive and I am just using her photos to make a point.

Boxing in Teeny, Tiny Bikinis

Although this match is obviously staged, the photos demonstrate that the folks in Japan are constantly thinking of new ideas for our viewing enjoyment. In this case, girls are going at it in professionally taped boxing gloves and tall boxing boots, but otherwise just wearing the most minimal of bikinis with g-strings.
A nice shot of a fighter in her corner, perhaps dejected at the course of the fight so far. The water sprayed on her breasts and neck to similate sweat is a nice idea, but I've yet to meet anyone who manages to work up a sweats on their chest and not on their face. The result of the "knockout" blow, with the loser's mouthpiece laying in the ring next to her. The sheen of the oil (I can't even say it looks like water in this picture) is a bit too much, but the victor's somewhat tired expression and body language let's us imagine that it was a particularly sprited match.

Solid Japanese Ring Wrestling

I've selected these five photos from two ring matches (available for purchase from Battle Japan) to discuss some of the finer points of properly capturing a ring match that is not diluted with sexual attacks. In the first featured match, we have Mao Takigawa in the black misfitting one piece against Aiko Oshino. Ms. Oshino is issuing a very simple and effective knee to Ms. Takigawa's collarbone, and the photo captures the moment of impact. There is no Casper/Rosemary-like oversized grimace, but the closed eyes and clenched teeth of a women wrestler taking a solid shot.
Ms. Takigawa appears to be suffering not only from Ms. Oshino's spirited attack, but also from the fact that her suit's strap is cutting into her left nipple. A poor choice of outfit, to be sure, but one which benefits the viewer.
These three photos feature the larger Kuroi Yume against Hirayama Yuri. As neither of these ladies are particularly busty, they wear swimsuits that are cut particularly high around their hips. Although Ms. Yume may not be in the best of physical condition, I am a fan of ladies who aren't mere whisps getting into the ring for our viewing pleasure.

One final point is that the ladies' aren't wearing elbow pads. Given how slender many of Japanese women are, the elbow pads often float around their arms that detracts from the overall effect of their proper ring attire. A small detail, to be sure, but as I've written in the past, it only takes the slightest misstep to ruin an otherwise commendable photo.

Why I Hate Mudwrestling

These photos from FightingStyle.com focus on what can be one of the most poignant moments of a match -- when the ladies embrace after a winner has been declared. We can see how much these ladies respect one another, and that the competition is entirely real, by the way that they hold themselves after going after each other hard on the mats. Above, we see Isabella congratulating Gaia after a very hard fought match in the nude. Below, Gaia -- wearing the victor's wreath -- consoles Artemis who is obviously despondent at her loss.

The Proper Angle Makes All the Difference

I've selected these photos to show how the angle that the photographer uses can have a tremendous impact on our enjoyment of the photo. The first photo is simply pedestrian. The aggressor in the black suit looks like she would rather be selecting a different shade of eye shadow and the young lass getting worked over is doing her best impression of a wrestler in pain. The photographer is standing in the ring, pointing his camera downwards at the ladies in order to capture all of the "action."
Now this photo, of the same ladies, is an entirely different kettle of fish. The photographer is standing outside the raised ring, and is eye-level with the young lady in white. Although she is now topless, that is not what draws us in. Instead, it is the looming and dominating lady in black over the helpless loser who is thrust directly towards us. A combination of the camera's angle and that the ladies' hair obscures their faces allows us to imagine that this match is more in intense than the photo shoot most assuredly was. Just another example of why if you go to the trouble of having ladies wrestle in the ring, you should photograph them from outside the ring, just as they would be viewed by the spectators.

Da Bears(hug)

Putting aside the tactical use of a bearhug in a match, the key features for a wrestling photo are to see the ladies' breasts being pushed together and the anguished expressions on their faces. Above we have Rosemary Lorenz going against Pam McGivern (thanks to a reader for identifying her), and their photo satisfies all of the prerequisites, with the added bonus of the ladies tussling in the nude. Of course this is a posed photograph -- I can't imagine how they could manage this position for long while kneeling on a couch before falling off. But that is a mere quibble as both ladies have large, natural breasts and are clutching each other tightly, albeit not in a traditional bearhug. Another added bonus, of course, is Rosemary's classic grimace which never seems out of place in an apartment wrestling match (perhaps explaining why it is featured in so many of her matches).
In the next two photos, we have one of my favorites, Casper, matching up with a statuesque blonde. The ladies have solid grips around each other's backs and are appropriately bare breasted. As always, Casper's expression is nearly priceless, particularly in the above photo as it looks like she is truly suffering in her opponent's grasp.
I've included the photo below of one of my new favorites, Miracles, against Jael to show how not to shoot a bearhug. First, the ladies aren't topless. Second, the angle of the photo is particularly not flattering to Miracles, as it makes her look like her nose is three sizes too large. Finally, Miracles needs to take some lessons from Casper, or at least borrow from her playbook, as to the appropriate facial expression for this situation (e.g. bearhugging a much larger, stronger lady).

Movement in the Ring

After an exhaustive review of photos of Japanese lady ring wrestling, I noticed that one element of a match was rarely captured -- that of movement in the ring. Unlike mat or oil wrestling, where the ladies are naturally in close contact throughout, the ring's defined space provides ample opportunity for the ladies to move about. While high-flying techniques are beyond the capabilities of almost all of the ladies featured in the types of matches we like (i.e., those with an erotic component), it was nice to see that this photo features two attractive ladies moving with some speed within the ropes.

After the Match

Although the above photo is taken after a mixed oil match, the result of which was most likely pre-ordained, the photo captures something of the reality of the situation. The man lies on the mat, face down and anonymous. After all, he is just a fixture just like a lamp in a play -- he performs a function but since the viewer is supposed to place himself in the wrestler's stead, the wrestler needs to be non-descript, or better yet, anonymous. As always, it is the woman who captures our attention. Her bikini top has been pulled aside to display her breasts and her body is covered in oil. But while the ends of her long hair are also covered, her face doesn't have even a trace of oil. All the better not to smudge her makeup. No doubt the script called for her to dominate the match once were breasts were exposed. She confronts the viewer, exhausted from her exertions but in no way bowed from her experience.

A Devious Smile

Rare Asian Nostalgia

For a change, I don't have much to say about these standard-issue apartment wrestling pics (early 70s I'm guessing) that fall within the stocking and garter belt class. I just thought that it was interesting to see an Asian woman participating, and how the photographer decided to make her look more "exotic" by having her use very light eyeshadow (noticable in the photo below). It's too bad she has to play the jobber, but I guess that the rule that "prettiest one loses" (often proved in the exception) has its place.

Treena Collins, Facesiting Queen

One of my earliest favorites was Treena Collins who did alot of work for Joan Wise. Throwing herself into her work, she was never caught with one of those "what should I do next" looks that just destroy a photo. As in the photo below, she was addressed the viewer, letting us know that she knew we were watching.

Sweaty Japanese Ring Wrestling

One problem with many of the fine photos of ring wrestling from Battle Japan (www.catfight.co.jp) is that the photos suffer from the obvious artificially inherent to any scripted match. This set overcomes that hurdle by introducing a few simple and easily reproducable elements. The first is that the girls are sweaty. Brilliant!! From where I sit, almost any wrestling photo would be improved by starting the photoshoot after letting the ladies enjoy a sauna for a few minutes.
And how about trying a real wrestling move, like this leg split? Brilliant!! (Well, I was referring to the choice of the g-string, but that's another story).
And finally, it wouldn't be Japanese lady ring wrestling without the obligatory "swimsuit is tantalizingly almost too small" crotch shot. Click on the photo to see what I mean.

Just One Small Detail Between Good and Bad

Throughout the ages, men and women have debated the differences between good and bad. Now, I'm not going to add to that worthwhile discussion. I'm just going to show how a small detail in a photo of a topless or nude lady standing in ring wearing boxing gloves can turn from potentially good into bad with just one detail. In the first two photos, we have attractive nude women wearing boxing gloves standing in a well-appointed ring with the appropriate detrius of the boxing world behind them. But what absolutely destroys any enjoyment we can get from these photos is that both ladies are wearing belly button rings with large dangling chains. Of course I know that these ladies aren't going to box or really fight. But part of the allure of a great foxy boxy (or wrestling, for that matter) photo is that we can imagine that they are going to do so. But there's no way to sustain this suspension of disbelief when you're staring at the three inch piece of jewelry on a lady's belly.
Below we have a well executed photo. I can tell you that it is entirely staged and that this lady was as involved in a boxing match as I am in high energy nuclear physics. But this young woman appears as if she is ready to fight, and is perhaps looking at her opponent sprawled out on the floor. There is nothing to suggest that she is not in the middle of a match (i.e., no jewelry) and has her hands up in a what appears to approximate a defensive position.

Filipino Bikini Submission Wrestling

Sometimes I get disappointed about the relative scarcity of photos of attractive and minimally clad ladies wrestling each other. But then I find a solid trove, such as at ManilaFights.com, and my concerns are assuaged, at least for a day or so. In the pink bikini we have the solid and formidable Lhet going against Nicole. As you'll see from this collection, that these girls are supposed to be submission wrestling doesn't stop them from getting in a few cheap shots.

Lhet demonstrates that she has two of the key criteria for a good female wrestler -- a great ass and the willingness to show it off. It's been my experience that Filipino women are actually conservative in their lifestyle, and we can see that Nicole is actually wearing black panties underneath her bikini bottoms. Nicole's expression catches our attention, and we can see that she's in a bit of difficulty as Lhet's grip around her neck is very close to a choke hold.

But don't let Nicole's good looks fool you. Here she jams her right elbow into Lhet's ear, grasping her hands together to increase her leverage.

In a later match, Lhet is in some trouble against Karen. Of course, I was first attracted to this photo by Lhet's perfect ass and her right boob peaking out. But upon closer inspection, we can see how hard these ladies are fighting. They don't have good wrestling mats, just some interlocking plastic pieces that apparently start to break away as soon as the action gets heated. So not only is Lhet having to deal with Karen sitting on her head, but her legs are against the hard tile floor.

Lhet appears overmatched against Karen, but its good to see that she never stops trying even as her bikini top is no longer performing its function.

Kwahm vs. Jahn -- Asian Catfight Circuit

These matches between the reigning diva Jahn and her protege Kwahm were certainly among the highlights of my time in Bangkok. They were only supposed to have one match in panties, but it soon escalated into a second nude match during which many hard feelings were revealed.

Here Kwahm has managed to get on top of Jahn. Note how both ladies are wearing panties with full backs.

Jahn manages to bend Kwahm's legs and feet back, and all of a sudden Kwahm yells out her submission. It didn't look to me like it would hurt that much, but Kwahm was obviously furious with Jahn as soon as Jahn released the hold. Jahn looked like she couldn't have cared less, and this just pissed Kwahm off even more.

As I don't speak Thai, I didn't know what going on, but a couple of sponsors immediately offered a bonus for a nude match, one fall, right there. I later learned that Kwahm had been in a motorbike accident a few months ago (with Bangkok's horrific traffic, there are an army of motorbike taxis) and had hurt her left ankle. You can see a dark mark on her ankle in the picture, but I don't know if its just a shadow or a scar.

After a few moments to catch their breath, but not to calm down entirely, the girls removed their panties and got on their knees on the bed. This was quite different from the other nude matches I saw, which were preceeded by the girls warming up in the nude and taking advice from their sponsors. Kwahm is alot stronger than Jahn, while Jahn has the greatest desire to win amongst all of the girls I saw, plus some real wrestling skill to boot. Here Kwahm gets Jahn in a quick bearhug, but Jahn's balance is such that Kwahm can't get her down.

Although there wasn't much action, as the ladies struggled against one another on their knees, I could hear from their hard breathing that they were really going at. Then, all of a sudden, Jahn let out a yell. Just from the sound of it, I could tell that Kwahm was yanking on Jahn's nipples. There was no referee for this match, and Kwahm's dirty grip was a real departure for this usually demure young lady.

But Jahn, after escaping from Kwahm's nipple grip, turned around and planted her right fist into Kwahm's belly. Kwahm pitched forward and, as we see here, almost fell onto Jahn. That quick, short shot from Jahn must have really hurt, because Kwahm let herself get pinned right after this photo was taken. A great, albeit short, match that further cemented my admiration for Kwahm (even though she lost, I thought she looked great tussling in the nude).

Asian Catfight Circuit Photos

These photos are from my Yahoo! Group, Asian Catfight Circuit (the link is on the right hand column), and feature lovely young Thai ladies wrestling in a Bangkok hotel room. For those of you who are familiar with that group, you know that I can't show the ladies' faces in the interest of keeping their wrestling lives somewhat of a secret. So while I concede that this limitation really detracts from the potential power of the photos, I still think that there is enough for us to consider and enjoy.

In the above photo, we see Nam pulling on Peung's right hand, trying to throw the younger and slimmer lady off balance. I love the contrast between Peung's hand coming directly at the viewer and Nam's full panties being a bit wrinkled and not fitting tightly. The other contrasting elements in this photo are Nam's upright and solid form against Peung's twisted and slighter body.

One aspect of the Bangkok Hotel Room matches that surprised me was that the veteran ladies didn't wear g-strings for their topless matches -- only the ladies newer to the scene wore them. Over the course of watching a few matches, I began to understand that the veterans had a very good sense of how to make the most money from their efforts. If their sponsors wanted to see them in a g-string, or in a nude match, they would have to provide the appropriate incentive -- a bonus payment, of course. Another Angle on Rosemary versus Seka

My first entry on this blog(http://cpcommentary.blogspot.com/2006/02/rosemary-versus-seka-corrected.html) was to express my admiration of the color photo of Rosemary giving Seka a wedgie. Later I found a black and white photo of the same move, but taken from a different angle. While the differences in the ladies' positions are minute at best (Seka's left hand, for example, is against the carpet in the B&W photo), I was surprised that I was not nearly as engaged by the B&W photo as its sister. At first I thought this was because I simply preferred color to B&W, but that wasn't it.

Instead, I find that the color photo has a tremendous coherence of vertical power -- Seka's arm and panties lifted into the air, with Rosemary's breasts drooping downwards, all against the backdrop of the strick vertical lines formed by the drapes. In the second photo, Rosemary's naturally hanging breasts are facing the camera, a much less flattering view than from the side. Real vs. Scripted -- Sumo Style

I've blogged some in the past about obvious differences between real and "scripted" (or to be less kind, fake) apartment and mat wrestling matches. I thought it would be interesting to apply this analysis to photos from entirely different culture and type of match -- Japanese Sumo Wrestling.

In the above photo, we have two very attractive women who are not physically built for sumo and have very stylish haircuts while their makeup has been expertly applied. Instead of crashing into each other as is the norm in a true sumo match, the two ladies attack each other's naughty bits for our viewing pleasure.
This next photo is basically an homage to the standard breast attack featured in Japanese catfighting. One lady grips the other's breast, careful to let the nipple poke out between her spread fingers, and the attacker watches the other's reaction. Again, the ladies' bodies are obviously better suited for virtually anything other than sumo and their loincloths are perfectly fitted (or to be more accurate, misfitted) so to expose just a hint of their fine pubic hair.

Here are some fantasic photos of ladies wrestling for fun (and perhaps profit) in the late 70s or early 80s. While these photos have none of the digitized splendor of the current crop of professional efforts, they capture all of the grace and tension that epitomizes apartment wrestling. Real Titfighting

I've selected this series of photos from the fine folks at APL Video to talk about a few elements of a good, real titfight. Here we have Nadege on the left and Dakota on the right. At first glance its obvious that Nadege's breasts are much smaller, so one might initially conclude that she has a substantial advantage. After all, she's presenting a much smaller target.

Just as it's up to the actor on the receiving end of one of Spock's Vulcan nerve pinches to make us believe in Spock's ability to render anyone unconscious just by gripping them with one hand around the side of the neck and shoulder, it's up to the lady taking the crotch shot to convince us that the tide of the match has turned.

Here we have Casper in black against Kristin in light blue. Casper is in an obviously dominating position, kicking at Kristin's head. But that's just the first step in a professional's selling of the crotch shot.

The Importance of Background
