Lisa Marie

One of my first favorite wrestlers was Lisa Marie, an Australian (or perhaps a Kiwi) who had a bit of a bad attitude and wasn't afraid to use her size and strength against her opponents. At 5'10" and solidly built, Lisa Marie was more than a match for most women and her matches against smaller guys appeared realistic. The photo above is notable as Lisa Marie has worked up a nice sweat against her opponent, and her white panties show that the drapes don't match the carpet.

Mercedes Khani

I actually don't know anything about this lovely young lady, other than she is a fitness competitor and she lives in Europe. Wouldn't it be great if wrestling (which surely is a great form of exercise) would be an acceptable career for a fit woman in such prime condition? In other words, and to put it more bluntly, I really wish someone could figure out a way to get her to wrestle in the outfit she is wearing in these photos.

The Wrong Angle

I love it when ladies, naked except for wrestling boots, go at it in a ring. (If you're into this, I highly recommend the Beka two-tape set of their 8-girl nude tournament, in which the finals actually required a tie-breaking overtime round!!). But these photos have caught the "action" (in quotes as the ladies are obviously posing) from the wrong angle. You see, the point of having the ladies wrestling in the ring is so we can look up at them, making their asses look all the more magnificent. Or we look through the ropes, as if we were in the audience. But by looking down at them, all of the tension is lost and the unfortunate result is that the photos look like two women posing in the nude.

In Praise of the British

While I'm not an Anglophile by any means, I have to give a Colbert-esque "tip of the cap" to those folks at Festelle who have put on so many exhibitions of topless wrestling in London. Wouldn't it be great to live in a society where one a month or so, you could go down to the local pub and watch some lovely ladies wrestling in tangas or g-strings? In this photo, one of my favorites Luna is really getting the action taken to her by an older woman. If you've ever seen Luna wrestle, she probably has the greatest body for a terrible wrestler. Or to put it another way, her beauty is inversely proportional to her wrestling ability.

A Favorite (one of many)

Another in the "BOW" series, and from one of my all-time favorite videos. The match, as I remember it, was very short and one-sided. The thin girl in the white panties totally overpowered her opponent, who I will call "Pla" (a common nickname for a Thai girl) for purposes of this discussion. Pla simply had an outrageous body, curves all over that were highlighted by the liberal application of oil and a deliciously skimpy g-string. Pla apparently had several supporters among her fellow wrestlers, and they loudly urged her not to submit. But, as you can see for yourself, she ultimately did give in. What I love is how her left hand is raised palm up towards the referee, just as many of the losers in the classic Theo Ehret photos. The referee is not helping the winner here, but is making sure that she isn't choking Pla (which perhaps explains why the other wrestlers were rooting for Pla -- perhaps they had suffered chokes in earlier matches). And there is no denying that Pla's face shows the pain of losing to this chin-grip submission hold.

Thai Ladies Wrestling

Like many red-blooded American guys (to distinguish ourselves from those with green blood, I suppose), I find Thai women attractive. So the combination of Thai girls and wrestling is right up my alley. Unfortunately, there are only a few matches available on video. These photos are from oil matches organized by a Japanese outfit and are part of the "BOW" series, which I presume stands for Bangkok Oil Wrestling. There is no mistaking the intensity on the faces of the ladies going at it above, and I particularly like how the lady on the bottom is not giving in so easily.
For reasons that are only partially self-explanatory, many Japanese producers favor matches decided not by pin or submission, but by the first to remove her opponent's panties. The buxom lady to the right demonstrates good defensive technique as she is simultaneously pulling her own panties up while maintaining a hold on her opponent's. With her opponent smartly pulling her right leg in to prevent her panties from being pulled off, she had better move quickly to get her opponent's panties off first. But most of all, I'm captured by the way that the ladies' stray hairs stick to their necks.

True Victory

One of the most devastating victory poses of all time, as Ingrid celebrates her win over Karin in this late 90s catfight from DWW. Ingrid gives a devilish little smile to someone to her right, and Karin just looks exhausted, unable to prevent Ingrid from lifting up her arm and putting her right foot on her belly in a show of complete and hard-won dominance. With her right fist lifted high, there is no question but that Ingrid is justly proud of her victory and has no compunction in showing that she is not a natural blonde. Neither lady is a fitness addict, and the gentle droop of Ingrid's breasts together with a bit of a tummy (which beomes more evident upon her return to wrestling in a few years) allows us to admire her indominatable fighting spirit all the more.

Luckiest Man Alive?

What else could you say about the guy who gets to be in a photoshoot with Su-Ling, as she wrestles in a crochet bikini that barely covers her ass and breasts?

Olde Time German Tit Fight

Those of us you enjoy watching ladies tussle in various stages of undress have to admit that we have it better than our forebears. We are almost spoilt for choice with a range of fighting styles captured on video and on the web by several dedicated producers in the Americas, Europe and Asia. So I have to give a tip of my cap to those who came before us and couldn't simply fire up their computer to check out photos of ladies going at it. Plus, looking at the vintage catfight photos gives us a sense of what it must have been like when it was hard to even imagine that anyone else shared one's particular interest. With the dictates of society and the limits of photographic technology, I can only stand (or perhaps bow) in awe of those who took photos like the one featured above.

I'm not going to argue that these German ladies, catfighting in the late 30s I believe, are particularly beautiful or that the shot is brilliantly composed. Instead, I like this photo because they are obviously ordinary looking ladies who were somehow convinced to catfight in front of a camera. And from the seeds planted from early photos like this, an entire industry (albeit a tiny one) has grown.
